Sour Sop
The fruit is well-known in the tropical regions and it is widely used fresh or in making jam, ice-
cream and fruit drinks. Native to Central America. Fruits are heart-shaped with a rough green skin with soft fleshy spines. The flesh is very juicy and slightly acid, and produces a rich creamy juice which is very refreshing.
Benefits:
- High in carbohydrates.
- Contains Vitamin C, B1 and B2
Taste:
- The flesh is sweet and tart, custard like, juicy and fragrant.
Preparation:
- The fruit is somewhat difficult to eat, as the white interior pulp is studded with many large seeds, and pockets of soft flesh are bounded by fibrous membranes.
- The soursop is therefor usually juiced rather than eaten directly.
